Is it better to have a mountain bike saddle high or low?
I just picked up my 2010 Trek 820 yesterday but I don’t know if I should raise the saddle height. Every other mountain bike I’ve seen has had the saddle pretty high. My friend races, but he has his always about the height of the handlebars. I tried raising the saddle and I felt that I got a little more momentum, but I don’t really need anymore room, the bike is a 21 and I fit it perfect. So, what do you guys think? My neighbor also has his saddle really high.
Mtn biking means moving your saddle height depending on the conditions. High for climbing and low for flying down the mtn especially when descending on a hardtail. The back end tends to buck ya when going over obstacles so it helps keep the center of gravity low.
If you don’t like to stop to adjust your seat post height get this little gem of mtn bike bling!
