I just changed my front disc brakes and now they seem stiffer to move and they squeak? Hmm.?
I just recently changed out the disc brake pads on my Nissan Altima GXE with a friend. Everything was done correctly, the brake lines were bled according to ABS/non ABS.
Now for the first few minutes driving every time I start my car my front brakes squeak (not too loudly) and also seem a little less sensitive than the last ones? Perhaps I’m still getting used to them…
Being stiff is a good thing. Mushy brake means you have air in the line. So you MIGHT have had air before and now they are not as muchy.
As for the squeak, that happens when you do the brake at home (and so you don’t resurface the disc). It is not a big problem. Sometimes after market pads are not high performance pad (at the expense of noise and squeak).
Next time just replace the rotor (it cost the same as resurfacing).
